Fields of Blue is a mental health and suicide prevention company created in honor of
my grandmother. In order to help others, I first needed to help myself by taking time to
prioritize self-care. This is how I invented Fields of Blue. Self-care is routinely taking
action to preserve or improve one’s health. My Self-Care packages include items such
as essential oils, lotions, candles, soaps, postcards and more. In order to properly care
for others, you must know how to take care of yourself first. Plant the seed for others,
plant the seed of Self-Care.
Artist Statement
My grandmother, who I was incredibly close to, got sick suddenly and died by suicide. I
was left wondering why, and how I could have helped prevent it. I use design to educate about
mental health and self care and to help prevent suicide. As a graphic designer and
interdisciplinary artist, I seek to use my experience and growth to help others find hope, build
connections, and create community.
I fall in love with every art process I come across. Being able to express my feelings
through different forms of art excites me and increases my creative motivation to try more. It’s
almost like being able to speak different languages through art forms. I enjoy working with fun,
bright, abstract, bold, and minimal elements while dealing with complex, emotional and
challenging topics. I use my faith and trials in life as an inspiration and foundation to create
meaningful design concepts.
